Editor-in-chief, some Forbes Ukraine team members halt cooperation with UMH, start new project

The editor-in-chief and some members of the Forbes Ukraine publication team have terminated cooperation with Ukrainian Media Holding (UMH), Forbes Ukraine wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

"The recent events, including economic crisis and a court conflict with the license holder restrict the opportunities for our professional growth and project development. Taking this in to account the editor team has made the only right decision in this situation – to launch own independent journalist project," reads the report.

The project will be launched in March 2017.

As reported, a U.S. court banned UMH from using the Forbes brand in Ukraine.

Earlier media reports said that a court in the U.S. banned the Ukrainian company to use the Forbes brand and trademark in printed media, online resources or mobile applications. Censorship and violation of principles of independent journalism were grounds for the decision.

Forbes.ua wrote on its Facebook page that the publication team denies censorship and linked the court decision with the fact that U.S. sanctions are imposed on the owner of the publication.
