Statistics: Real wages in Ukraine 21.4% up in Jan 2017

Real wages in Ukraine in January 2017 compared to January 2016 increased by 21.4% and compared to December 2016 it fell by 8.3%, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to the service, the average monthly nominal wage of full-time workers in October decreased by 7.2% compared to September, while in annual terms it rose by 37.7% and amounted to UAH 6,008, whereas in December it was UAH 6,475, November UAH 5,406, October some UAH 5,350 and in September some UAH 5,358.

The largest growth of average wages in January compared with January 2016 was observed in Ternopil (by 54.3%), Zakarpattia (51.8%), Chernivtsi (50.3%), Volyn and Kherson (49.8% each), Kirovohrad (49.7%), Vinnytsia (49.4%), Khmelnytsky (48.1%), Zhytomyr (47.8%), Sumy (47.5%), Ivano-Frankivsk (46.3%), Rivne (45.5%), Cherkasy (45.1%), Poltava (42%), Chernihiv (41.4%), Lviv (41.2%), Mykolaiv (39.4%), Kharkiv (38.6%), Kyiv (38.3%), Zaporizhia (34.3%), Dnipropetrovsk (32.9%) regions and Kyiv city (30.4%).

The rise in wages in Donetsk and Luhansk regions (excluding the ATO zone) was 26.5% and 47.8% respectively.

The highest level of wages last month was recorded in Kyiv at UAH 9,292, and the lowest in Ternopil region - UAH 4,641.

In January 2016, wages increased in the area of education by 59.9%, healthcare by 53%, administration and defense, obligatory social insurance by 50.8%, agriculture, forestry and fishing industry by 49.2%, public administrative and auxiliary servicing by 41.4%, construction by 41.2%, industry by 30.4%, accommodation and catering by 48.4%, wholesale and retail trade, vehicles repair by 31.6%, transport, warehouse companies and courier activities by 29.8%, real estate by 24.4%, IT and telecommunications by 25.1%, professional, scientific and technical activities by 26.9%, financial and insurance activities by 23.6% and arts, sports, entertainment and recreation by 22.9%.
