Antonov to challenge decision of Russian court to collect 180 mln rubles for Russian defense ministry

State Enterprise Antonov (Kyiv) is drawing up a counterclaim against the ruling of the arbitration court of Moscow to collect 180.3 million Russian rubles fine for Defense Ministry of Russia, the press service of the enterprise has reported.

Commenting on the decision made by the court on November 18, the press service said that it concerns the project on the creation of An-70 military and transport aircraft that earlier implemented by Ukraine and Russia.

"The Defense Ministry of Russia filed a claim to the arbitration court of Moscow against Antonov to collect 753.3 million rubles fine for failing to meet the deadline in research and design works to create An-70 military and transport aircraft," the press service said.

"The judicial disposition was announced on November 18. The claim was partially satisfied in the amount of 180.3 million rubles," the press service said.

At present specialists of the law department of Antonov Enterprise are working on challenging the decision.

Russia and Ukraine were implementing the program to create An-70 military and transport aircraft under intergovernmental agreements signed in 1993 and 1999. Defense ministries of Ukraine and Russia ordered batch production of the aircraft.

Antonov is a leading Ukrainian aircraft designer and manufacturer and an acclaimed world leader in the area of various types of transport aircraft. It was included in Ukroboronprom State Concern in April 2015 on the government's orders.

Ukraine in June 2014 imposed a ban on military and technical cooperation with Russia, including double-purpose products. The Ukrainian government in May 2015 terminated the intergovernmental agreement with Russia in the military and technical cooperation sphere signed in 1993.
