DTEK in Nov seeks to boost anthracite supplies from Ukraine uncontrolled areas by 20%

DTEK Energo in November 2016 seeks to boost supplies of anthracite coal from the areas beyond control of the Ukrainian government by 20% compared to October, Logistics Director Orest Lohunov has said.

He said that if in September coal deliveries from the company's coalmines located on the Ukraine uncontrolled areas was 589,000 tonnes, in October it grew to 618,000 tonnes and in November it would be increased to 742,000 tonnes.

He said that the increase in supplies this month was possible thanks to the resumption of supplies through the Mykytivka-Mayorsk section operating unstably since November 3.

In general, DTEK Energo supplied 1.66 million tonnes of coal to its thermal power plants (TPPs) in September, and they grew by 20% in October, to 2 million tonnes.

Lohunov recalled that the company also ships coal from state-owned coalmines and imported from South Africa and Poland. Some 40,000 tonnes out of 79,000 tonnes of South African anthracite arrived to Prydniprovska TPP, and the rest of the coal will come to the plant within a week. Some 130,000 tonnes of gas coal was contracted in Poland and 80,000 tonnes have arrived to TPPs. Some 50,000 tonnes will be imported in November.
