Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) jointly with prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) on Tuesday detained former deputy director general for strategy and marketing of state-run enterprise Electrotyazhmash.

"He is suspected of committing a crime described in Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (criminal offense committed by a group of persons and abuse of authority or office caused any grave consequences). The citizen was detained in Kharkiv. The court will select the pretrial detention measures, if any," NABU said.

In addition, a head of two commercial enterprises also involved in the embezzlement scheme was notified that he is suspected of committing a crime under Parr 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"His location is being established," NABU said.

During an investigation NABU revealed a scheme using which officials of Electrotyazhmash under collusion with heads of two shell companies in 2014-2015 sold a DC engine almost at the production cost (UAH 1.39 million) and then the engine was resold to Kazakhstan at over $3 million. The enterprise saw losses of UAH 37.2 million.

"The pretrial investigation is underway, measures to establish other possible companions in the crime are being taken," NABU said.

The press service of Electrotyazhmash told Interfax-Ukraine that they learnt about detention of former deputy director Roman Dovhy from media reports.
