Rada passes resolution to increase salaries of lawmakers

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has increased salaries of members of parliament.

A relevant resolution on the conclusions and proposals to the bill on the state budget for 2017 was supported by 230 MPs at a plenary session on Thursday.

According to the document, the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be paid a salary in the amount of 30 minimum monthly wages, his deputies will be paid 28 minimum monthly wages.

The salaries of heads of parliamentary committees and factions will make 27 minimum wages, those of their deputies 26 minimum wages.

A lawmaker, who is a member of any of the parliamentary committees, will be paid a salary of 25 minimum wages.

At present, only 26 out of the total of 423 MPs are not members of any of the committees.

Currently, the minimum wage is UAH 1,450.
