NBU launches website of Prostir payment system

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has launched the website of Ukrainian Payment Prostir system, Director of the payment systems and innovative development department of the NBU Serhiy Shatsky said at the presentation of the website on Wednesday.

The official said that for the development of the payment system one must make efforts not only to issue cards, but also to develop infrastructure across Ukraine, and not restrict oneself to only large cities.

He said that the NBU is holding talks to select a partner for Prostir to settle international payments, but this is not of top priority today.

According to the presentation, integration of 'transport' projects, implementation of opportunities to buy tickets without cash, introduction and spreading of combined devices to pay in retail trade would help to develop cashless payments. The NBU said that cooperation with European companies is required to develop p2p payments, e-commerce and micro payments.

Among the top priorities of Prostir is development electronic money, the possibility of providing services using mobile operators (using the Prostir's e-money).

The NBU expects that by 2020 cash payments would reduce by 20-25%, while in H1 2016 the share of cash payments was 69.6%.

The central bank said that at present the number of Prostir participants banks is 45.
