The absence of bids at a tender to sell Odesa Port-Side Chemical Plant (OPCP) does not mean that the plant would not be privatized, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said, adding that a new tender will be announced.

"In the limited term no bids were submitted by potential buyers for this price. This does not mean that we would drop our plans to privatize some state enterprises… We will analyze the first attempt to put OPCP up for sale and will announce a new tender. We will prepare better for it," he wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

The prime minister also recalled his position about the privatization of state-run companies.

"We have almost 3,500 state-run enterprises. European countries have some 300 each. Hundreds of these enterprises are managed ineffectively and they are a source of corruption and depletion of funds from the budget. We would offer some of them for transparent privatization. We will improve management in those that would be left in state ownership," he said.

Groysman said that those who get used to feed using state-owned assets resist to this.

"We would not leave this path," he said.
