U.S. to provide $355 mln assistance to Ukraine by late FY2015

The U.S. is to provide $355 million worth of assistance under different lines and programs to Ukraine by the end of this financial year, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Ihor Dolhov has said.

"By the end of this fiscal year that ends in 2016, this is $355 million under different lines and programs, including for the functioning of Yavoriv training area (Lviv region) and delivery of communications devices," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

Asked if information that Ukraine and Poland agreed on weapon supplies at the Warsaw Summit is true, he that the countries signed an additional protocol to the existing agreement on cooperation in defense industry with Poland.

"According to the document, a working group is created. Management and coordination of steps in this area is transferred to the Defense Ministry. Earlier the Economic Development and Trade Ministry fulfilled these functions," he said.

The fiscal year in the U.S. starts on October 1 and ends on September 30 of next calendar year.
