IMF to consider Ukrainian issue after country fulfills certain obligations

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will consider further cooperation with Ukraine on the EFF program after the country fulfills some of the technical obligations, IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde has stated.

"There are still a few technical issues that need to be done out of part of the conditions that Ukraine has accepted and we negotiated together in good faith. So that needs to be finished. Because we cannot have a half-baked program and hope that this will go for the better. So the job needs to be done and I have full hope that both [Ukrainian] President [Petro] Poroshenko and the new prime minister will take it to heart to actually deliver and implement the last requirement which Ukraine has committed to do. And I have huge confidence in Ukraine," she said.

The IMF head has not specified what requirements were mentioned. At the same time, she noted Ukraine is very close to the end of the second revision of the EFF program, and most of the changes that were to be carried out by the authorities have already been implemented.
