Growth in industrial production in Ukraine in Feb comes to 7.6% for the first time in three years

The growth of industrial production in Ukraine in February 2016 amounted to 7.6% compared to the same month in 2015. The figure is the highest in three years, after falling by 1.7% in January 2016 and 2.1% in December 2015, the State Statistics Service has reported.

According to the new reporting form, the agency said that, adjusted for the effect of calendar days, industrial production in February this year rose by 4.9%, from February last year.

According to the service, in February compared to January this year industrial production grew by 8.2%, and taking into account the seasonal factor by 3.5%.

In January-February 2016, compared to January-February 2015, the growth of industrial production was 2.9%. Mining and quarrying grew by 3.4%, manufacturing by 3%, supply and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air by 1.9%.

The service noted that in January-February 2015 the fall in industrial production was 20.7% year-over-year, while in general over the past year industrial production in Ukraine fell by 13.4%, in 2014 by 10.1%, in 2013 by 4.7%, and in 2012 by 0.5%.

The authority said that industrial production in Luhansk region soared by 2.1 times in January through February 2016 and in Donetsk region it increased by 10.1%.

Growth in industrial production was recorded in Odesa (13.1%), Mykolaiv (12.4%), Chernihiv (14.1%), Kyiv (7.4%) and Kirovohrad (5.4%) regions.
