EBRD builds up 40% stake in charter capital of UkrSibbank

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on February 2, 2016 increased a stake in the charter capital of UkrSibbank (Kharkiv, part of BNP Paribas) from 15% to 40%, according to a report in the information disclosure system of the National Commission for Securities and the Stock Market of Ukraine.

"On the basis of the permit of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine dated December 1, 2015 and the permit of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) dated January 21, 2016 agreements on the sale and purchase of shares were signed between UkrSibbank's shareholders, and the stake of the EBRD grew to 40%," reads the report.

As reported, the EBRD in November 2015 said that during the increase of the UkrSibbank's charter capital by $130 million the EBRD's share will grow to 40%.

The EbrD planned to acquire 64.964 million ordinary shares and 6.009 billion A class privileged shares.

UkrSibbank was founded in 1990.

BNP Paribas S.A. (France) as of the beginning of October 2015 owned 84.9996% in the bank, the EBRD held 15%.

The bank ranked 9th among 123 operating banks as of October 1, 2015, in terms of total assets worth UAH 38.084 billion, according to the NBU.
