New car sales in Ukraine 52% down in 2015

New car sales in Ukraine in 2015 decreased by 52% compared to 2014, amounting to 46,546 units, according to the Ukrautoprom association.

According to its report on the website, the leader of sales last year (as in 2014) was Japanese brand Toyota, whose sales also declined by 52%, amounting to 4,903 cars.

Renault ranked second (in 2014 this position was occupied by China's Geely) with the sales being 4,215 units and a decrease from the previous year by 20%.

ZAZ ranked third – over the year ZAZ sold 2,868 cars (64% less than in 2014), at the same time ZAZ managed to hold the position of 2014 in the ranking of sales.

Analyzing the dynamics of sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine in 2015, the association noted that the curve of sales hasn't overcome the level of the depressive year of 2014.

The report notes that the year of 2015 began with a "very low start," in January only 2,597 new cars were sold, but this was not the worst figure - after a slight increase in February (2,924 cars sold), sales in March fell to a record low of 2,259 units.
