Integrated database on business checks to be created in Ukraine

The Ukrainian parliament plans to approve the creation of an integrated automated database on business checks by supervisory agencies.

A total of 238 lawmakers supported at first reading draft law No. 2531a on amending some Ukrainian laws regarding the improvement of legislation on public supervision.

Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius said while presenting the draft law in the parliament that it would facilitate the audit procedure for businesses. He said that two supervision agencies plan to check the same company, the system would be able to unite the checks into one.

"One will be able to see who is coming to whom and why," he said.

Abromavicius said that businessmen will be informed on checks via e-mails. The bill also envisages punishments for officials who enter false information into the automated system.

"The draft law would allow for systemizing the operation of an army of officials and exempt businesses from extra attention," the minister said.

According to an explanatory note, the draft law introduces the requirement that infringers do not observe sanctions within 15 calendar days will be subject to an appeal by the supervisory agencies to the courts.
