Agreements in place to expand presence of Ukrainian companies in Turkmenistan - Poroshenko

Ukraine will expand the presence of its companies in Turkmenistan, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

"We've agreed to expand the presence of Ukrainian companies here, simplify their participation in tenders, and we identified the appropriate representatives of the Turkmen government who will be directly responsible for Ukraine's presence in the Turkmen market," the president told journalists following his visit to Turkmenistan.

According to him, Turkmenistan's opportunities are being expanded in connection with the lifting of sanctions against Iran.

"I can say that Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin will soon visit Iran, we've coordinated actions with international organizations, and we are doing this effectively," Poroshenko said.

The president said he is satisfied with his visit to Turkmenistan which has opened up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

"After all, when Russia closes markets to us, we must ensure the presence of Ukrainian producers, Ukrainian exports in their traditional markets, where they are well known and have a good reputation," Poroshenko added.
