Energy Ministry believes privatization of CHPPs is a priority

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry believes that the privatization of combined heat and power plants (CHPP) is a priority, minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said.

"There are nine CHPPs owned by the state. I think these are first candidates for privatization ...We need to do this by winter so that people who will come [and] could [be] prepared for the heating season," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.

Demchyshyn added that, in his view, some energy supply companies should also be prioritized as a priority.

"There are three companies, in which the state owns major stakes, these are Khmelnytskoblenego, Kharkivoblenergo and Zaporizhiaoblenergo. Recently there have been a lot of problems with these companies," the minister said.
