Ukrnafta minor stockholders to file lawsuit worth $5 bln against Ukraine soon - Kolomoisky

The minority shareholders of Ukrnafta will file a lawsuit worth $5 billion against Naftogaz Ukrainy and the state in two weeks, the key minor shareholder of Ukrnafta, Ihor Kolomoisky, said at a meeting of the supervisory council.

"Everything is ready, the lawyers and the court have been defined," he said.

As reported, in January 2015 three Cypriot companies, the minority shareholders of PJSC Ukrnafta, demanded that Ukraine pays $5 billion in compensation for the actions of the government and Naftogaz Ukrainy, having sent a letter to Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn.

In the letter, the Cypriot companies noted that Ukraine in 2006-2014 constrained Ukrnafta from selling residual gas on the market, despite the relevant court decisions.

According to Littop Enterprises, Dridgemont Ventures and Bordo Management, due to the restrictions on gas sales Ukrnafta has no funds to fully cover its tax liabilities, while the State Fiscal Service charged penalties that threatens the further effective work of company.
