NBU head, finance minister to sign agreement on macro-financial aid with EU in Riga

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva and Finance Minister of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko will take part in the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga on May 21 and May 22, and will sign the memorandum of understanding and the credit agreement on the provision of the new package of macro-financial aid to Ukraine with the European Commission.

The NBU wrote on its website that Gontareva will also take part in a business forum where the problems of the free trade area will be discussed.

The program of the NBU governor's visit includes several meetings with representatives of business circles and the European Commission, particularly, with Valdis Dombrovskis, the European Commission’s vice president for the Euro and Social Dialogue.

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is a joint policy initiative launched at the Prague Summit in May 2009. It aims to deepen and strengthen relations between the European Union and six of its Eastern neighbors: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
