EBRD has no intention of slowing cooperation with Ukraine – Energy Ministry

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has no intention of slowing its cooperation with Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine has reported, with reference to EBRD representatives.

"The EBRD representatives assured that the bank is not intending to slow down cooperation with Ukraine. In particular, during the meeting the parties talked about the current state of affairs and new projects to implement in the electricity, oil and gas sectors," reads the report, which was released after a meeting between Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn and the EBRD experts.

In addition, the press service said the parties discussed accelerating the implementation of the project to restore the capacity of OJSC Ukrhydroenergo and the prospects of preparing new projects with Ukrhydroenergo and Ukrenergo, among which is the construction of Kaniv hydroelectric pumped storage power plant and the expansion of Kakhovka hydro power plant, as well as the construction of the 750 kV Kyivska-Pivnichnoukrainska transmission line.

Following the meeting, the minister instructed Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo to hold additional consultations with the EBRD on further cooperation.
