Demchyshyn hopes emergency measures in electricity market will be extended

The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn hopes that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will decide to extend emergency measures in the electricity market for another month at its next meeting.

"These measures are to be definitely extended. There are decisions that depend on the extension of these measures. The situation is improving, but there is no coal so far, payments to the anti-terrorist operation zone need to be coordinated and there is a question about the feed-in tariffs," he told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to Demchyshyn, the decision was not made at a government meeting on March 25.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers by resolution No. 372 of August 13, 2014 approved the procedure for adopting temporary emergency measures to overcome the effects of long-term malfunctions in the electricity market, and by decree No. 764 of the same date for the first time approved the need for such measures. Subsequently, these measures were extended by the orders dated October 1, November 7, December 8, 2014, January 14 and February 25, 2015.
