Payments of UAH 1,000 per day to servicemen won't require changes to budget - Poroshenko

The payment of UAH 1,000 per day to military men participating in military operations will not require changes to the national budget, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said.

"We have spent 5.3% of gross domestic product on defense, this is the sum which exceeds UAH 86 billion, and we planned this expenditure as part of the Defense Ministry's current costs," Poroshenko said at a briefing in Kharkiv.

He also denied the information that payments for each day of direct involvement in the fighting are not foreseen in the resolution adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on February 1.

As reported, on February 1 Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk signed a Cabinet decree, which establishes additional payments to servicemen for executing combat missions and destroying the military equipment of militants.
