Ukraine continues to fulfil debt obligations in full - Finance Minister

Ukraine continues to fulfill its debt obligations on time and in full, and still has time to receive necessary financial assistance to avoid negative scenarios, Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko has said.

"Our country stands on our own legs: we make current payments every day... I am convinced that international assistance will be issued in the needed amount," the minister told journalists, on the sidelines of the Ukrainian breakfast organized by the Pinchuk Foundation, at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

She noted that last year Ukraine received aid in the volume negotiated within the Stand-By Arrangement of the International Monetary Fund and other international funding related to it.

"But the situation has deteriorated since then. Nobody predicted that the war would be as terrible and costly as it is. Therefore we are now revising these forecasts for the economic situation," Jaresko said.

She found it difficult to state the figure of new financial support to be issued to Ukraine.

"There is no one magic number because there are many components. But I am sure there will be sufficient financing," she said.
