Donor conference for Ukraine will be scheduled immediately after country triggers reform process – EU Commissioner

EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has stressed how it is necessary for the Ukrainian government to launch a reform process both in economic and in political sectors in the country.

Government and prime minister have already made definite steps towards the reforms, but first of all in the economic sector, he said at a briefing in Brussels on Monday adding that it is also important to cope with the issues, which are of top priority for the EU – the rule of law and combating corruption.

The Commissioner also stressed on importance not just to approve legislative frames for these norms but to start their implementation.

These are measures of trust, which are necessary. And if it is done [reform process is launched], we may very quickly to approve the date [of the donor conference], Hahn stressed.

Besides, he reminded that the conference has been scheduled for the beginning of the next year.

According to Hahn, under the aforementioned conditions this conference could be named as a conference of reforms or a conference of investors.
