Official forex rate in Ukraine hits new record lows of UAH 14.47 per U.S. dollar

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) as of 14:00 Kyiv time on Friday devalued the official forex rate of the hryvnia against the U.S. dollar by almost 51 kopecks, to UAH 14.470660 per U.S. dollar, having updated a record low.

The previous minimum was fixed the day before at UAH 13.955672 per U.S. dollar.

The NBU said that the weighted average rate on the interbank forex market on Friday by 13:30 Kyiv time stood at UAH 14.4762 per U.S. dollar, whereas it was UAH 13.8815 per U.S. dollar when trading closed on Thursday.

The NBU also reported that the volume of the market by the said time on Friday was $21.09 million, whereas it was $19.36 million the day before.

Market operators told Interfax-Ukraine that foreign currency on the interbank forex market at midday on Friday was traded for more than UAH 15 per U.S. dollar.
