IMF decision on next tranche for Ukraine could be taken next year – IMF spokesman

The decision by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to provide the next tranche to Ukraine as part of a Stand-By Arrangement could be taken next year, IMF spokesman Gerry Rice has said.

"We are anticipating next review mission, which will be the technical mission in mid November, and since the [Ukraine] policy discussion cannot be completed for the review until the new government is in place, that is going to take some time so it is possible that the review would not be brought to the IMF support until later this year or even early next year," he said at a briefing in Washington on Thursday.

At the same time, he added, the IMF does not expect there will be a material effect for the Ukrainian economy if the next tranche is approved in 2015.
