Naftogaz owns 12 of 16 bcm of gas in UGS - Kobolev

Naftogaz Ukrainy owns about 12 of the 16 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas held in the underground gas storage facilities (UGS) on the mainland, board chairman of the state holding Andriy Kobolev has said.

"Now Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities contain about 16 billion cubic meters of gas. Naftogaz owns about 12 billion cubic meters. We plan by the start of the heating season to create a resource in the UGS in the amount of at least 17 billion cubic meters," he said in an interview with the Dzerkalo Tyzhnia. Ukraine weekly.

According to him, private gas producers did not respond to the initiative of the state holding on pumping by January 1, 2015 of 50% of the produced gas to the UGS to create stocks.

According to live data from PJSC Ukrtransgaz, Ukraine as of September 13, 2014 had accumulated 16.218 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the UGS.

In the period from September 1 to September 13 the average daily pumping amounted to 38.1 million cubic meters.
