The National Bank of Ukraine after trading on the interbank currency market from 1400 on April 16 strengthened the official hryvnia to U.S. dollar exchange rate from UAH 12.385561 per $1 to UAH 11.396110 per $1.

According to data from participants in the interbank market, market prices at that time corresponded to the official exchange rate and were UAH 11.20-11.50 per $1 compared to UAH 11.98-12.30 per $1 a day earlier.

The National Bank of Ukraine on this day, as on the previous ones, did not enter the market, but after the increase from April 15 of the discount rate from 6.5% to 9.5% per annum and the working refinancing rate from 7.5% to 14.5% per annum disconnected 14 banks from the interbank market for foreign exchange speculation.

The official hryvnia to euro exchange rate on April 16 fell immediately from UAH 17.125515 per EUR 1 to UAH 15.730051 per EUR 1, and that of the Russian ruble - from UAH 3.4415 per RUR 10 to UAH 3.1688 per RUR 10.
