Interior ministry seizes all products of EDAPS, transfers them to NBU

Officers of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine have revealed some corrupt schemes linked to the operation of the EDAPS concern, the press service of the Interior Ministry reported on Monday.

The press service said that the products made by the concern are being transferred to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

The ministry said that the products, including biometric passports, are being produced at Kyiv-based Ukraina Polygraph Combine.

"However, the situation does not suit persons who provide a crime-sponsored cover to EDAPS, in particular, Vasyl Hrytsak (a politician, police lieutenant-general, former lawmaker from the Party of Regions faction) who blackmails leadership of the Interior Ministry, tries to put pressure on them and who is conducting a 'shady' information campaign. This person acts via intermediaries. No document involved in the information war has his signature, so that it is not possible to bring him to trial," the ministry said.

The ministry again said that its position in corruption prevention, especially, at the Interior Ministry, is very tough.

"The first steps have been made, and many corrupt schemes have been unveiled. The results of the work will be presented to the public so no one can avoid punishment. As for revealing of corrupted schemes in the operation of EDAPS, this is only the beginning. The Interior Ministry continues working in this direction," the ministry said.
