Deposits in Ukraine in 2013 up by 17.3%, loans by 11.9% - NBU

Total deposits in Ukraine in 2013 increased by 17.3%, to UAH 666.1 billion, while loans increased by 11.9%, to UAH 905.9 billion, according to the Web site of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to the report, operations in the national currency mainly influenced the dynamics of the figures.

However, according to the NBU, the increase in deposits in December was due to the growth of both corporate funds by 7.1%, to UAH 228.8 billion, and individuals' money by 0.3%, to UAH 437.2 billion.

Ending funds on loans issued to legal entities in December were up by 3.3%, to UAH 717.1 billion, and those to individuals by 0.6%, to UAH 188.8 billion.

The report also states that in December the average rates on loans issued to individuals and legal entities in the national currency increased to 17.47%, up from 16.90% in November, and in foreign currency to 8.74%, up from 8.52%.

The average interest rates on deposits in the national currency in December rose to 12.73% from 10.13% in November, and in foreign currency to 6.41%, up from 6.12%.

According to the NBU, the cost of resources in the national currency on the interbank credit market in December rose to 11.05%, up from 6.10% in November.
