Five Ukrainian media companies included in the ranking of the largest companies on the Post-Soviet space

StarLightMedia, UMH Group and three other media holdings entered the ranking of 25 largest media companies on Post-Soviet space. These are the results of research conducted by the Russian rating agency Rosbusinessconsulting. Besides StarLightMedia and UMH Group, the rating also includes Ukrainian media holdings: Inter Media Group, 1 +1 Media and Media Group Ukraine.

According to RBC, The ranking took into account several criteria: the amount of annual revenue, the weekly audience coverage, demonstrating the scale of media resources, technical coverage - the availability of information content to the consumer, as well as informational influence (how influential this resource is and how effective each media company able to convey to the consumer news content).

Taking into account these criteria, the final list hits 25 companies, operating in the largest markets of Post-Soviet space: Russian ($8.76 billion), Ukrainian ($1.02 billion), Kazakhstan ($293 million) and Belarus ($100 million). The data are per 2011.

The first place in the ranking took Russian company Gazprom Media with an income of $1.563 billion, followed by the Russian VGTRK - $813 million revenue, on the 3rd place - JSC Perviy (First) Channel ($963 million).

StarLightMedia took the 11th place and ranked the highest among the Ukrainian companies with annual revenue of $224 million, UMH group took the second place with $138 millionrevenue, the 17th place and 3rd among Ukrainian took the Inter Media Group with revenue of $89 million, 21th place 1+1 Media ($43 million) and at the 22th place - Media Group Ukraine ($51 million).
