The National Commission for Communications Regulation (NCCR) has decided not to prolong a license on the building and technical servicing of communications networks with mobile facilities and the provision of services for their use in Ukraine for private joint-stock company MTS Ukraine, reads a report on the Web site of the regulator.

The commission told Interfax-Ukraine that the refusal to prolong the license was linked to the fact that it was issued when the law on communications was in effect in Ukraine, while at present, the law on telecommunications, which took effect in 2004, regulates the licensing. The regulator recommended MTS Ukraine to receive a new license.

According to the register of issued licenses of the NCCR, the term of the above-mentioned license of the mobile operator will expire in December 2013.

The commission has allocated the operator code 40 of the 800 global telecommunications service in Ukraine to MTS Ukraine.
