Russian gas price for Naftogaz in June is $426.10 per 1,000 cubic meters
Naftogaz Ukrainy in June is buying Russian natural gas under its contract with Gazprom at a price of $426.10 per 1,000 cubic meters, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported last week.
"The base price for gas under this agreement (with Gazprom dated January 2009) is $450 per 1,000 cubic meters. According to the formulas laid down in the agreement, which peg the price to world oil prices, at present it stands at $526.10," the statement reads.
Thus, given the current discount of $100 per 1,000 cubic meters, the price of gas for the state holding now stands at $ 426.10 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said that the Russian natural gas that Ukraine buys from German company RWE costs the country $390 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is $100 less than the Russian gas that Ukraine buys on the border with Russia,
According to State Statistics Service, the price that Ukraine paid for the natural gas under the contract with RWE Supply & Trading GmbH in was $390 per 1,000 cubic meters January-March 2013, and $389.40 per 1,000 cubic meters in April.
The average price of natural gas bought by Naftogaz Ukrainy and Ostchem Gas Trading AG (Switzerland) in January came to $408.60, in February – to $426.20, in March – to $425.60 and in April to $430.
Thus, not taking into account the discount in the price of gas received after signing Kharkiv agreements on the prolongation of the staying of the Russian Black Sea Navy in Crimea for 25 years, the price of imported Russian gas for Ukraine today is $100 higher than the price of gas received from Europe.
As reported, in April 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych at talks in Kharkiv agreed to prolong the term of the presence of the Russian base in Crimea by 25 years, starting from 2017 when the current agreement expires. The agreement was accompanied by an understanding between Gazprom and Naftogaz Ukrainy on the 30% discount on gas prices for Ukraine, but no more than $100 per 1,000 cubic meters.
