Ukraine cuts gas transit to Europe and CIS by 18.5% in Jan-April

Transit supplies of natural gas through Ukraine to Europe and the CIS countries in January-April 2013 decreased by 18.5% compared to the same period in 2012, to 26.180 billion cubic meters.

According to the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz, gas transit to Western Europe over the first four months of the year decreased by 18.2%, to 25.211 billion cubic meters, and to CIS countries by 27.1%, to 969.66 million cubic meters.

In April 2013, gas transit through Ukraine decreased by 23%, to 5.891 billion cubic meters: In particular to Europe by 22.7%, to 5.775 billion cubic meters, and to CIS countries by 36.3%, to 115.36 million cubic meters.

In addition, Ukrtransgaz over the four months transported 22.091 billion cubic meters of gas to the country's consumers, which is 6.8% down on January-April 2012.

At the same time, in April this year, gas transportation to consumers Ukraine increased by 7.1% compared to April last year, to 3.289 billion cubic meters.

"The growth in the domestic demand for gas is associated with low temperatures in April. And exports and imports volumes are simultaneously falling in accordance with the applications of supply companies. Ukrtransgaz traditionally fulfills on time 100% of applications made for gas pumping through the gas transportation system, both inside the country and abroad," reads a statement.
