Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has estimated the cost of the reconstruction of Bortnychi aeration plant in Kyiv in UAH 3.5 billion.

"There is the Bortnychi aeration plant. It's necessary to finally resolve this stinking problem...It costs UAH 3.5 billion, and this the budget of the average region of Ukraine," he told the journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.

As reported, on September 20, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov reported that the capital is in talks with international financial organizations on raising a loan for the reconstruction of the Bortnychi aeration plant, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and "other financial institutions that operate at 3% per annum."

Currently Kyivvodokanal is actively developing project documents for the reconstruction of the aeration plant. It is planned at the first stage to raise $250 million for this purpose.

"We need billions of hryvnias [for the plant's reconstruction]. I think that at the initial stage we should consider least $200-250 million to say that it is serious investment," said the official.
