Tavriya's director general hopes businessman Firtash will continue to support club

Director General of Tavriya Simferopol Yuriy Vasiukov has said he is confident that the team will play in Ukraine's current football championship until the end.

"There will be no repetition of [the situation with FC] Arsenal [Kyiv]. Rumors have already been spread that there are buyers for the club. But I think that [Dmytro] Firtash will not leave the team until the end of the season, and will serve as its sponsor. Everything will be fine," he said in an interview with Football TV Channel on Sunday.

As reported, it became known on January 11 that Tavriya had canceled training sessions in the UAE and Spain because of financial problems.

Media reports also said that Russian businessman Mikhail Prokhorov could be an investor in Tavriya.

The club has recently received financial assistance from the head of the board of directors of the Group DF, Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash. The former chairman of the Crimean Council of Ministers, an MP from Vitali Klitschko's UDAR Party, Serhiy Kunitsyn, is the president of the Tavriya sports club. Incumbent Chairman of the Crimean Council of Ministers Anatoliy Mohyliov is the club's honorary president.
