Yuschenko endorses ratification of protocols on NATO Information Center, liaison officers

Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has signed a law on the ratification of two additional protocols to a memorandum of understanding between Ukraine's government and NATO.

The president signed an additional protocol about the formation of the alliance's Information Center and a protocol on the appointment of NATO liaison officers in Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified these protocols on February 18.

According to the documents, the employees of the NATO Information and Documentation Center and NATO liaison officers in Ukraine will have the same privileges, immunity and support as a regular diplomatic mission accredited in Ukraine. The same will be applied to members of their families in line with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961.
