Coalition council proposes president nominate Tarasiuk for foreign minister
The coalition council has officially nominated Borys Tarasiuk for the post of Ukraine's foreign minister and asked President Viktor Yuschenko to submit a respective motion to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
"The coalition council met during a break in a plenary meeting... According to part 8, Article 83 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the coalition nominates Borys Ivanovych Tarasiuk for this post [of foreign minister]," the leader of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc's faction in parliament, Mykola Martynenko, said on Friday.
As reported, the parliament dismissed Volodymyr Ohryzko as foreign minister on March 3. A total of 250 MPs, including MPs from the Regions Party, the Communist Party, and 49 MPs of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, backed his dismissal. The foreign minister's post is in the quota of the Ukrainian president.
