U.S. ambassador surprised at Ukrainian foreign minister's dismissal

U.S. ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor said he was surprised the Verkhovna Rada's decision to sack Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ohryzko.

Minister Ohryzko is a professional diplomat and I wish him all the best, the ambassador said in an interview with journalists in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Ukraine's foreign policy will continue to develop in the same direction as earlier, he added.

The U.S. cooperated with Ohryzko quite efficiently and hopes for the same cooperation with the new Ukrainian foreign minister, Taylor said.
