Rada can dismiss NBU head only on recommendation of president, says Constitutional Court ruling
The Verkhovna Rada can dismiss the head of the National Bank of Ukraine only under a respective recommendation of the president, according to a Constitutional Court ruling announced on Tuesday.
The Constitutional Court made this decision after considering the president's query about the official interpretation of clause 18 of the first part of Article 85 of Ukraine's Constitution.
"Clause 18 of the first part of Article 85 of Ukraine's Constitution, concerning the presentation, should be understand as follows: the Verkhovna Rada can dismiss the head of the National Bank of Ukraine only if the president submits a respective presentation to the parliament," the Constitutional Court's decision reads.
The Constitutional Court's decision is final and cannot be appealed.
