UEFA: Preparations for Euro 2012 going well
UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino has said that the preparations of Ukraine and Poland for the European Football Championship 2012 are going well.
"These two countries are ready to cope with the massive inflow of tourists," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
Infantino noted that seven of the eight stadiums of the championships were functioning. The first match at the National Stadium in Warsaw will take place on February 29. According to him, Ukraine and Poland are continuing to successfully carry out the reconstruction and construction of airports, roads and railways.
The UEFA general secretary expressed the belief that Euro 2012 would have a lasting impact on both countries after the tournament ends. He also expressed hope that European football fans and guests of the tournament would leave Ukraine and Poland with positive memories of Euro 2012.
Infantino thanked the leadership of the Ukrainian Football Federation and the local organizing committees of Ukraine and Poland for their work.
