Lytvyn: Yanukovych to sign law on parliamentary elections after returning from foreign visit
The law on the election of people's deputies will be signed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych after his return from a foreign visit, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has said.
"Today at 0930, this law came from a temporary special commission that prepared it for the legal department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Therefore, there is no artificial delay, as was claimed earlier," he said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"Lawyers and then recorders must finalize this document. This is a document that will be read not only in Ukraine. And it must be technically and legally prepared perfectly for signing by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," Lytvyn said.
He said that there was currently "hysteria" in the press that this law will not be signed.
"I will answer you as follows: there is a good proverb 'Any toy is OK that keeps the baby at play.' Therefore, they are looking for work in this regard, and as experience shows, they found it. I advise Ukrainian politicians not to fall prey to the children's illness of fear and mistrust," he said.
"I assure you that the law will be signed by the president after he returns from a foreign trip. Therefore, there will be no sensation in this respect," Lytvyn said.
As reported, President Viktor Yanukovych is on a state visit to Israel November 30 through December 1.
