Yanukovych to participate in Ukraine-EU summit in December, says Foreign Ministry

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will participate in the summit of Ukraine and the European Union in Kyiv on December 19, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

"Certainly, we consider the EU-Ukraine summit as our priority, we are actively working on the preparations for this summit. This event is on the agenda of Ukrainian foreign policy and on the agenda of the president," Director of Information Policy Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleh Voloshyn has said.

He added that such an event as the Ukraine-EU summit involves the participation of senior officials from both sides.

"Clearly the summit is impossible without the head of state, so definitely we are preparing for the summit – we're working on it. The summit itself suggests the presence of the top leadership of Ukraine and the EU," Voloshyn said.
