Protesters break down doors of Donetsk Regional State Administration, according to media reports
About 200 protesters are trying to break into the building of Donetsk Regional State Administration, Ukrainian television's Channel 5 reported on Monday.
People armed with pitchforks and shovels started a scuffle with the guards, and broke the plastic doors and windows at the entrance to the lobby. Only two policemen are holding back the protesters, Donetsk Web site dn.vgorode.ua reported.
More police officers are currently on their way to the building.
"We learned that the mob beat up one of the policemen, who lost consciousness and was immediately taken away by ambulance," the Web site reported.
The protesters are demanding a personal meeting with Regional State Administration Head Andriy Shyshatsky. According to the Web site, one of their demands is a reduction in housing tariffs.
Meanwhile a hunger strike of Chornobyl cleanup workers continues outside the Pension Fund. Their main demand is a criminal investigation into the assault on the participants of the protest action as well as the resignation of heads of regional police.
As reported, a 70-year-old protester Hennadiy Konopliov died of a heart attack on November 27 after the demolition of the protesters' tent camp.
