Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Kazakhstan in the oil and gas industry, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"We find the idea of cooperation in the oil and gas industry very attractive. We see Kazakhstan transforming into a large oil and gas producer," Azarov said during a lecture at Eurasian National University in Astana.
"I was briefed about Kazakhstan's plans to produce some six million barrels a day. This is about 2.5 times more than a country like Libya produces. This suggests that firstly Kazakhstan will earn a lot of money from it, and secondly, we will need the routes for the transportation of oil and gas to the customer," Azarov said.
"Both Ukraine and countries of Europe could be potential buyers of oil and gas from Kazakhstan. We have here a great field for cooperation," the prime minister said.
