Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has neither confirmed nor denied reports that on December 19, the day of the EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv, he is scheduled to attend the EurAsEC Interstate Council.
"I haven't given any information about where I will be on December 19. I will be where I need to be," the president told journalists in Trostianets, Sumy region, on Thursday.
President Yanukovych said that the Ukraine-EU summit is very important to Kyiv, and a great deal of work has been for the EU-Ukraine association agreement. However, it is difficult to predict what the outcome of the negotiations with Brussels will be, he said.
As reported, a source from the EurAsEC Secretariat reported on Wednesday that the Ukrainian president would visit Moscow on December 19 to attend a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Interstate Council.
Meanwhile, the EU-Ukraine summit, where an association agreement with the EU may be initialled, is scheduled for December 19 in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it knew nothing about the participation of President Yanukovych in the meeting of the EurAsEC Interstate Council on the day of the summit.
