Kazakhstan and Ukraine are to jointly produce An-140-100 aircraft.
Kazakh aircraft building company AeroKZ and Ukrainian aircraft producer Antonov signed a cooperation agreement in Astana on Thursday during a Kazakh-Ukrainian business forum.
The general director of AeroKZ, Vladimir Kuropatenko, told journalists that the cost of the project was $150 million, which includes the construction of an airstrip and infrastructure for a testing aerodrome in the Almaty Region.
According to Kuropatenko, the joint venture will produce three planes in 2012, eight in 2013 and twelve in 2014.
"In the future we will be producing up to 20 aircraft a year," he said.
An-140-100 is the first turboprop aircraft designed in independent Ukraine. The plane will carry up to 52 passengers.
