Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has promised to contribute to the European integration of Ukraine.
"We integrated [into the EU] in ten years, but you can do it more quickly. You country is larger, its population is larger, and we will help," she said at a meeting Ukrainian with Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in Kyiv on Tuesday.
At the same time, she noted that the situation with the signing of the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU was currently "a bit complicated and its signing could be delayed for a while."
"And I had to tell [Ukrainian] President [Viktor Yanukovych] frankly that the situation is critical," Grybauskaite said.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed the financial and economic situation in Ukraine and Lithuania.
In particular, Grybauskaite asked Azarov what fall in GDP Ukraine saw last year, and the Ukrainian premier responded that it was minus 15%.
"We also had minus fifteen, so there's no need to cry," she said.
The parties also discussed the price of Russian gas for the two countries. Azarov said that in the current quarter, Ukraine pays $450 per 1,000 cubic meters of Russian gas, and Grybauskaite, in turn, noted that Lithuania pays almost $500 per 1,000 cubic meters
