Ukraine does not receive fighters from Western countries, military assistance from France expected in near future - Zelensky
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky says that Ukraine expects deliveries of heavy equipment from Western countries in the near future, but, in particular, has not yet received a single fighter jet as part of military assistance.
"In fact, we do not have fighters. We have not had any deliveries of any aircraft yet. Today, I confirm that relations with the West have warmed... and we see attempts to increase support in the direction of heavy equipment... We are waiting for this and think that it is true that we will have it," Zelensky said in an interview with the French TV channel BFM TV, the video of which was posted on the telegram channel of the Office of the President of Ukraine on Thursday.
Regarding the supply of heavy equipment, he added that the Ukrainian side "has preliminary dates and preliminary guarantees."
When asked whether Ukraine has received the weapons promised by the French side at the moment, Zelensky said that "we have received some things, as for the details, I am not ready to speak frankly about this. But there are things that we expect and really expect, we received a signal, that we will be able to get it in the nearest future."
"We are grateful to France for supporting us and to other EU countries... As for the specifics, we receive medical assistance from France, we received humanitarian assistance, and we are looking forward to military assistance. This is true. We see letters about specific things and we are waiting for this. I will tell you frankly, I believe the people of France and I believe the leadership of your country that we will still be able to get all this, and this will increase the power of our defense capability," Zelensky said.
