Emergency Service: Since start of war, more than 1,000 people rescued from under debris of houses destroyed by invaders, bodies of nearly 900 civilians unblocked
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, rescuers have removed the bodies of 897 people who died under the rubble of residential buildings destroyed by Russian shelling, and 1,194 people have been rescued, the State Emergency Service said.
"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of our state's territory by the Russian Federation 1,194 people were rescued in the course of rescue work by the forces of the State Emergency Service, while from under the rubble, unfortunately, the bodies of 897 people were unblocked," Volodymyr Demchuk, director of the emergency response department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
