Russian invasion of Ukraine kills 158 children, injures over 258 – PGO

A total of 158 Ukrainian children have died and more than 258 have been injured due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) reported on Sunday.

"More than 416 children have suffered in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into our state. As of the morning of April 3, 2022, the official number of child victims has not changed – 158 dead. The number of wounded has increased – more than 258," the PGO said.

These data are not final, since work is underway to establish them in places of active hostilities, in temporarily occupied and liberated territories. In particular, in the city of Mariupol, in certain areas of Kyiv, Chernihiv and Luhansk regions.

"According to the data officially established by juvenile prosecutors, the most affected children were in Kyiv - 75, Donetsk - 73, Kharkiv - 56, Chernihiv - 47, Mykolaiv - 32, Luhansk - 31, Zaporizhia - 22, Kherson – 29 regions, the Ukrainian capital - 16, Sumy - 16, Zhytomyr - 15 regions," the PGO said.

They add that due to the bombing and shelling in Ukraine, 869 educational institutions have been damaged. A total of 83 of them have been completely destroyed.
